Thunderbird is our preferred email client. It runs on Mac, Linux, and Windows. It supports plugins, including calendaring and PGP. It's maintained by the Mozilla Foundation.

Installation is simple:

• Download the Mac OS X package from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/.
• Open the image in Finder.
• Copy to Thunderbird.app to /Applications/.

• Tools / Account Settings
  • Slashmail (boochtek@slashmail.org)
    • IMAP: slashmail.org, port 993, TLS, Normal password
    • SMTP: slashmail.org, port 587, STARTTLS, Normal password
  • SLUUG (booch)
    • IMAP: mail.sluug.org, port 143, STARTTLS, Normal password
    • SMTP: mail.sluug.org, port 465, TLS, Normal password
    • NOTE: Won't work until you accept invalid certs for IMAP and SMTP.

• Install and document calendaring plugin.
• Install and document PGP plugin.
